Calculate money shown

Before teaching the calculation of money and change, it is important to have the students well founded in choral counting by 1's, 5's, 10's, and 25's. They must also be able to count by 10's starting from a number that ends with a five.

To reinforce the counting by 5's, you might also be teaching at the same time analog clocks where the student must read or write time to the five minute.

Download the pages below which require calculating the change shown.

Some are nickels and pennies, which is good practice for counting by 5's, which can also help reading analogue clocks, because each hour is 5 minutes. It is recommended that these two skills be practiced at the same time.

There is a progression to the sheets: first without quarters, in order followed by out of order, etc.

Most of these sheets will need to be downloaded to Word to print correctly, or to make up new combinations.
